Our political mission

At Harmony Acupuncture we acknowledge that we wouldn't be able to practice East Asian Medicine, or have our jobs and careers, without Asian people.

Hate crimes against people of Asian descent have been part of this country's history and are currently increasing at alarming rates since the pandemic. People from the same culture as the medicine's origin that we are practicing here are being discriminated against and killed every day. As practitioners of European descent at Harmony Acupuncture, we are working on dismantling white privilege and supremacy. We take responsibility and accountability in decolonizing East Asian Medicine (EAM). We don't use the term "Oriental" anymore even though most of our professional degrees and licensing boards still do. This term is racist, sexualized, and it commodifies how the "West sees the East."

We support our colleagues of Asian descent and we continue to challenge ourselves by unlearning racism and speaking out and taking actions against hate and discrimination.

What People Are Saying

“Thank you for being so helpful the day after my IVF transfer. You kindly made time to see me on the day I called in. It was important to me that I do everything I could to help things work out and I panicked when I heard late in the process about the benefits of acupuncture. You were very accommodating and knowledgeable during a time of emotional stress for me, I can’t tell you how nice that was. Thank you! I was lucky enough to have the process work and am now almost 10 weeks along with TWINS.”

“The first time I went to see Bea I was very skeptical about acupuncture and I was really not excited about the being stuck with needles. I left there amazed! I was surprised at how acupuncture is both effective and non-invasive. It has truly wonderful effects and you don’t even know the needles are there. I am glad I trusted Bea enough to let her help me.”

— stephanie

“My experience with acupuncture has been fantastic.  I had never tried it before, but decided to try it after suffering from infertility caused from PCOS.  My first session was so relaxing and released a positive rush of emotion that I hadn’t anticipated.  I  did 4 sessions during one cycle and was excited when I ovulated 3 days earlier than I ever had.  I was elated when I discovered a short time later that I was pregnant.  I feel very strongly that acupuncture was the difference in this cycle that allowed me to correct my luteal phase defect and relax, which helped me get pregnant so quickly.  I recommend it to anyone suffering from PCOS or infertility, in particular related to hormone imbalances.  Bea was very caring through the process and treated my body as a system rather than treating one specific ailment.”
